Tucker: Liam Hendriks is baseball’s larger-than-life hero

I recently wrapped up my time at Northwestern University, and over the course of my time there, I submitted several pieces that I never had time to publish. I wanted to retroactively go through and publish some of my work. I’m proud of these pieces, and I think they are vastly superior to any column I had written before this year.

I didn’t hold up my end of the bargain on posting once a day, but I wanted to go ahead and send out this piece I did on May 30, 2023 with the MLB World Series in plac

Alanna Smith’s hard work, determination pay off in big way for Sky

When Alanna Smith signed with the Chicago Sky in February, she didn’t expect to be a frontrunner for the WNBA’s Most Improved Player by season’s end. The 6-foot-4 Australian forward/center signed to a team with a crowded frontcourt and she expected to come off the bench to begin the year.

Patience pays off for Reed Blankenship: Hometown hero to Super Bowl contender contributor

PHOENIX — If the Philadelphia Eagles win Super Bowl LVII, it will be the first time undrafted rookie free agent safety Reed Blankenship shares a stage with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. Blankenship — who went undrafted in 2022 — isn’t letting all of the lights intimidate him.

One year after going undrafted, Blankenship is in a spot he couldn’t believe.

“(Playing in the Super Bowl) means a lot and, coming from a small town, this has always been my dream,” Blankenship said.

‘Mentally tough’ Chris Ingram primed for bounce-back season

It’s been a long time coming for NC State’s senior cornerback Chris Ingram. Serving as the Pack’s de facto secret weapon in the secondary, Ingram is in a good position to turn heads this year in his first game time since the 2019 season. He’s spent the greater part of the last two seasons recovering from a devastating injury suffered midway through that season’s game against Syracuse.

Because of the injuries to Ingram and others in the secondary, the Pack gave significant playing time to a whop
